Visibility
May 9, 2006
One of the best ways of marketing is to be visible. For example one day I was in my Main Street office and a client called to reschedule due to a sick child. I now had a free hour. I could have chosen to read my email, to ponder a new project or to grab a quick snack. Instead I decided to leave my office. I left without a destination really in mind.
I walked into a bookstore and talked to the owner while I browsed the shelves. She asked me what I did and expressed an interest in coaching, she invited me to speak at her bookstore and to discuss which books I might recommend for inspired entrepreneurs. I then stopped at the Chamber of Commerce, seeing that they had many items posted on the walls posted a brochure about an upcoming The Audacious Marketer workshop, taken from the bottom of my bag, which later resulted in 3 unexpected attendees. I then stopped at the bank and while picking up information for the small businesses was approached by the women in charge of Small Business financing. She offered me the opportunity to promote my business by using their small business lobby table display for one month at the next available time slot. What fun!
What would have happened if I sat at my desk lazily eating an apple? Surely not as much. Visibility is key to a growing company. This month Audacious Enterprises, the parent company of Audacious Marketing Master was very visible. I was given the opportunity to speak at Oracle Corporation, Juanita and I had fun on Business featured radio show, Juanita spoke at the Business and Professional Women's network and I will be speaking at a local networking event and E-Women's network very soon.
What can you do to be visible in your business or company? Take an action today, make a contact, offer to speak, network and enjoy the fun… far more fun than eating an apple. Debora McLaughlin
